by Meaghan Kelly In a land where rivers are holy and shadows are respected, there is an island far in the west that beholds a great castle with small windows and great, portly towers.
It held dark nights- no stars, quiet sun, and pale residents. To hide their frightening complexion, the royal family took baths in the Honey of Fire- a substance that stained any of those descendants from original caretakers of the Mother Fire. The family still took care of the fire, with a few scandalous exceptions, and were gifted beautiful ornaments from the heart of the magical fire. The young princess was gifted an arching knife while her brother was given an elegant key. The gifts were both beautifully ornamental- golden, molten circles curling in itself, into the tool, around the fingers- though they were for different purposes. The Mother Fire could see into the heart, into the future of your intentions and would aid in your path if you kept it awake a little while longer. Each province has their own fanciful spirit to care for. Whether they care for it or not. Whether they know it or not. The Westlen Province, for example, had a slithering wyrm deep in the sands of their desert, just past the mountains. While the Soufer Province had a large delta home to sneaking amphibian wolves, and the Eysta Province is home to a perpetual fire. In the Centryl Province, there are beautiful flowers that float on the rivers and streams, their petals like feathers, their stamen like talons. The history of these spirits is quite unknown since their existence is quite unknown. At some point in history, the inhabitants of these provinces knew of these spirits and properly took care of them. Then, at some point they forgot to tell their children, and the forgetfulness spread across many generations. Only one bloodline kept their promise to their spirit. Comments are closed.
