by Mary Boyce Williamson Father like son is what they say
But what if it's not a son But a daughter I am the daughter of my father Father like son I don't have a son but a daughter I teach my daughter how to fish like its a tradition Although it was only one fish, and never even winning I am the daughter of my father Father like son We have the same anger And the same rage The same understanding And also the same pain I am the daughter of my father Father like son My father was a banker But more of a listener That's why I like math Since it makes me think of him I am the daughter of my father Father like son He made me calm Made me feel safe And listened to my thoughts I am the daughter of my father Father like son I wear my dads old shirts Like they were given Showing the love and stains Where the memories were lived in I am the daughter of my father Father like son I used your shoes as I grew They were two sizes too big But they didn't fit me They fit you I am the daughter of my father Father like son Dads and sons watch the games But we never did I am the daughter of my father Father like son We went on camping trips I didn't do much I helped set up the tent Although there wasn't much to touch I am the daughter of my father Father like son You show me how to cook And you teach me while I look It was very interesting I wish I learned more from you I am the daughter of my father Father like son You learned to love me And the many colors of pink It became your favorite I felt so unique I am the daughter of my father Father like son It's all about cars And you helped me learn to drive But I miss the old times Where it was sparkles and bike rides I am the daughter of my father Father like daughter I know I'm not a son And that I am your daughter Thank you for everything you've done You don't know how much you have taught her I am the daughter of my father Comments are closed.
